The game is very fun, but this series needed more of an overhaul.
Now the beginning and the end are actually pretty cool and give the story it's meat. But other than that, it's mostly just meeting with your 'boss', then driving to destination on mini-map, and killing the little red dot. Some of the missions are quite aggravating due to the horrible 'aiming while driving', shooting sequences. It's those little touches are what makes GTA 4 get a score above an '8', in my book.Īs I was saying, however, there isn't much to do in the way of missions except for running around killing everyone you are told to kill by whomever is paying you to do so.

You can even watch TV for as long as you want while sitting in your apt./safehouse. Sure it's fun to go play darts, shoot pool, bowl, go out on a date, etc. The problem I have with it is that it gets VERY repetitive & apparently Rockstar really couldn't come up with much else to do all these years. It has that same addictive nature as the last few games. That's not to say the game is not fun, because it is. The Irish, Blacks, Hispanics, Italians, and even your fellow Russians have people for you to go or other tasks that are very similar to what you have been doing in the last three GTA games. After several hours into the story, you are basically running around doing errands and being a 'hitman' of sorts for all kinds of underworld crime bosses. The storyline is actually pretty good this time around, well at least for the first part of the game. Gameplay: If you have played any of the past three Grand Theft Auto games, then you will know what you are in for when it comes to gameplay. But like the other games in the series, it's still fun and definately worth playing. Unfortunately, the game didn't live up to that '10' score that many reviewers gave it. And then after many, many major publications/websites gave the game perfect scores.well, yea my expectations were through the roof. The hype surrounding this game was beyond crazy.
I haven't been as big a fan of the other GTA games as many other people have, but I still find them fun and definately worth playing. To be fair, however, Rockstar usually delivers when it releases a GTA game. I read some bad reviews about this game regarding the targeting system the driving the cover system, etc, it just takes getting used to, dont judge it till youve played, im glad i did. I havent played gta since the san andreas saga and guess you could say i was a little biased since vice city was my favorite one. a great buy at a good cost and i do not at all regret buying this game, and i doubt that you will. otherwise this is absolutely an all out fantastic game and there is little the game makers could have done t o make it better. though my recommendation would be to play the lost and damned before you play the ballad of gay tony because if you play the BOGT you are not going to want to play the L&D after. i have yet to play the ballad of gay tony, but i have heard nothing but great things about it. i bought the episodes of liberty city instead of just gta 4 by itself because, for ten more dollars, why not? you get 2 more games for the price of the first. multiplayer is fantastic and really allows you to feel as if you and whoever you are playing with feel as if you own the city together and can do anything you want to do.

Greatest free roam game up to this point in time. Overall amazing game in nearly every aspect.
